How to make your Apple iPhone 13 alarm play your music
Fix for Apple iPhone 13 or 13 pro alarm to play your apple music
Ahhh… the sound of your favorite song to wake you up in the morning on your iPhone alarm. It’s so nice and I have used this feature for years.
BTW - if you are just a get to the point person - scroll below for the fix I found.
This fall I made the decision to upgrade my family’s phones to iPhone 13s. So we traded in our old phones and did the upgrade.
When my wife and I fired up our new iPhones we noticed some glitches. One of the glitches was that our alarms would no longer play our music in the morning. We have the Apple music family plan so that we can download or stream any music we want to. And when you download a song from Apple music - you can use that song as your alarm to wake up with.
Well…it wasn’t working any more. Typically these glitches get fixed through software updates - so no worries right? Wrong. As each month has gone by - nothing fixed this issue (as the date of this article) so here I was using a lame sound effect to wake me up in the morning.
But today (as of the date of this post) I discovered how to fix this Apple alarm music issue!
I discovered inside the settings and the music app that the problem we were having is with a new feature called: lossless. What is lossless audio? The short answer is that it is a higher form of audio quality. You can read more about lossless audio here.
Now I should say that it appears not everyone was having this issue of their music not playing when their alarm went off so I’m not sure exactly the reason why, but anyways - the quick remedy for this is to “turn off lossless”. You should also delete the downloaded song/s and redownload it.
After I turned off lossless and re-downloaded - wahlah… my alarm played the downloaded song! Champaign fell from the sky. 😂
Now I’m sure one day a software update will indeed come out and fix the lossless issue and you won’t have to do anything, but for now this work around worked for us.
Here are screenshots to show you where to go to turn off lossless and fix the same issue you might be having:
Hope this article helps you!
